Cape Town in March

Cape Town in March is beautiful and most probably one of the better times to be in the Mother City.  The days are warm and full of promise, the ideal weather for a weekend of wine tasting. If you are a lover of wine and history then Solms Delta should be on your top 10 wine farms to see. They have a wonderful heritage museum http://www.solms-delta.co.za/heritage/museum-van-de-caab/  that gives you insight into the early developments in the Cape.  The service is excellent and the staff are an absolute pleasure to work with.  We sampled their wine in the comfort of the garden taking in the beauty of the farm; I found my delight in a bottle of Cape Jazz Shiraz, needless to say I took a few bottles home.

They also have a great band

Franschoek for Lunch.

when the wine runs dry use the bottles to light up your room - Light fixture using wine bottles

White Water Tubing in Hazyview Mpumalanga

The adventure will always find you if you seek it.
Going down stream...no turning back now.

Ever fancied White water rafting? Well White water tubing is the crazier sister who thinks a whistle, a man screaming "weg van die klippe af" will leave you with a greater high than the comfort of being in a rubber duck with other fellow "sailors"

Sometimes you just have to jump.

You sail by your lonesome self sans a paddle as your arms and body become your navigation systems.  You need to remain relaxed at all times this way you steer your tube better.  This is easier said than done but once you get inside it’s the exhilarating feeling that takes over, that unexpected rush that consumes us when we have to make sure that we survive the ride.

After Jumping off a 12m Cliff you need to document your survival in full view of the cliff and waterfall !

Bloem-Freezing-Tein - Hanging out in Bloemfontein in the middle of Winter ?

I am not a fan of winter,  in fact I dislike it immensely... but I like having a good time no matter where I go, no matter how cold it is.  Emoya Estate in Bloemfontein turned out to be the perfect place for my little winter adventure.  A game farm that has everything from a potbelly pig named Atilla to the wild spitting Lama's that I had never seen before in my life.  I was excited for days in fact I was putting most Chinese tourists to shame with the amount of pictures I was taking.

Winter madness, lifting my spirits with some fun and cheer before I head out to Bloem.

A bit like life, not centred, striking with a bit of shade.
Its a Rhino...No wait! Its 2 Rhino's! Always an amazing creature to see and come up close to.
Live, Love ,Laugh ad most importantly dream Big!

Sitting on a Hill watching the sunset with a game ranger, red wine in hand to keep the evenings icy grip at bay.  Coversation -amazing, sunset even better.

My Moses Mabhida Segway Tour - a new way to experience the beach front

Celebrating my birthday with my Daddy.

City Segway tours have become the rage;   it’s a fast, effortless way of experiencing a place.   Within 15 minutes, your tour guide will teach you how to use your balance to control your Segway and the do’s and don’ts of getting around.     Having grown up in KwaZulu Natal, I spent many a days on North beach enjoying the sun and surf,  though taking a Segway tour to Ushaka Marine made it a totally memorable event.  My dad, the tour guides and I made our way along the boardwalk.   I found myself nipping around, avoiding little people who were learning to use their roller blades and encountered interesting stares from afternoon walkers.    I even had a chance to whizz down the pier.
It’s a cool toy and great solution for those who don’t enjoy walking long distances or are struggling with walking.  Anyone can do it regardless of age.  I must admit that I struggled with handing it back to the tour guides after I was done. Segway's a toy for all ages.

APRIL - My Iconic Month

April was a crazy month for me, with my mother leaving for my cousin's wedding in America, my birthday celebration's (yes celebration's, there were many) and everyday life I found myself pushing water up a hill!  Luckly through all this mayhem,  I managed to fit in 2 great trips to the Supernal KwaZulu Natal and Mpumalanga provinces.

A Iconic month celebrating life!

Moyo's on the pier - Cocktails with a view

http://www.moyo.co.za/restaurant-moyo-pier/photo-gallery.aspx

If you in Durban you must take some time to have a drink at Moyo's on the pier.  The views are amazing and the ocean breeze just makes it the perfect place for sundowners after a long day at work.

There was slippin and slidin and whoops!

Baby elephant bulls are my absolute favourite!  They are oblivious to their body size but are very aware of the fact they are boys and they truly revel in that knowledge.  A visit to the elephant orphanage had us totally surprised as the boys came stampeding around the corner, ears flapping wildly as they launched themselves into the mud bath.
All the elephants at the orphanage were found at a very young age either lost from their troop or next to their mother who had been killed.   The orphanage hand raises them and then when they are old enough they are moved and introduced back to the wild.
They do a great job and it’s really worth the visit especially if you want to touch an elephant and get a real close up picture.
the boys showing that they can behave from time to time
